Rue Gambetta
Jean Suau Street, along with Gambetta Street, represents one of the necessary links to facilitate access to the banks of the Garonne River. These streets converge towards the river and are redesigned with a focus on quality and accessibility.
While similar to Pargaminières Street, Jean Suau Street differs in its function: it is classified as a 30 km/h zone to accommodate vehicles exiting the underground parking at Capitole, which will gradually reduce its capacity to offer parking for residents of the city center.
The architecture of the street also differs according to its function, with 7 cm curbstones clearly defining wide sidewalks and generous pedestrian terraces. Trees are scattered along the route towards Daurade, indicating the proximity to the river.
Currently, Gambetta Street has narrow sidewalks with worn-out materials that have a road-like appearance: granite curbstones, asphalt road, and sidewalks. The small square at the intersection of Malbec Street and Peyrolières Street is used for motorcycle parking.
In line with the Master Plan, Jean Suau Street has already been executed, and the section of Gambetta Street will follow the same design.
The project includes two green islands or Archipelagos: one at Capitole Square and the other at the intersection of Malbec and Peyrolières Streets. These will feature new trees, creating a fresh atmosphere in the area.
The new layout allows access for coaches, entering from Capitole and exiting through Peyrolières.
