Reconversion of the former EAI
Today, the EAI site is an enclosed and hidden place in a growing metropolis made up of two different sub-areas. This project consists of opening the site by various means and giving it a new character based on the values of history and projecting them into the future. The major transformation is part of the culture of the sustainable city that echoes the experience of other European cities, compact and well-controlled systems, where the quality of public spaces and the appropriate scale of architecture ensure an exemplary environment.
This is a clear and strong concept: the orthogonality of the urban network, a very specific and recognizable structure, forms the historical reference to the military character of the site and allows surrounding neighbourhoods to attach to the EAI. This generates a new point of centrality and guarantees the diversity and intensity of the activities of this new neighbourhood.
The concept is clear and strong: the orthogonality of the urban grid, a very specific and recognisable structure, constitutes the historical reference to the military character of the site and allows the surrounding neighbourhoods to adhere/connect to the EAI. This generates/provides a new (point of) centrality and guarantees the diversity and intensity of the activities of the new neighbourhood.
