Place Victor Hugo
The Victor Hugo Market, an architectural symbol of the 20th century, holds an important place in the city. The aim of the project is to improve the connection between the public space and the market.
The redevelopment of the square includes large pedestrian areas on both sides of the square, paved with porphyry, as in all the downtown developments. Only delivery vehicles, residents, and parking users are allowed access by car: access control has been implemented on the Wilson square side. The entrance and exit directions of the parking lot have been modified. The lighting has been modernized both outside and inside, where golden chandeliers add a decorative touch. Regular visitors will also appreciate the more comfortable temperatures, both in winter and summer.
Other improvements include:
- The establishment of a forecourt on the Alsace-Lorraine street side to improve pedestrian flow.
- Installation of new urban furniture (chairs, benches, underground containers).
- Planting of trees to add greenery to the square.
- New parking facilities for bicycles and motorcycle parking spaces.
