Place Arago is located in the Marengo-Périole neighbourhood, a district that has always distinguished itself for its architecture. A fashionable district, appreciated for its proximity to the train station and the city centre.

Place Arago has a distinctive circular shape and 19th-century terraced houses surrounding it. However, in its former state, the fragmented space gave priority to cars cars and bore little resemblance to the lively bustle of the city.

The project transforms this car park into a vast community space, finding a balance between green and mineral space. New trees in the centre of the square complement the circular alignment of centuries-old Sophora trees. At the foot of the trees, shrub and flower beds add freshness. Local handmade brick is re-introduced as a paving material. Car traffic is reduced in favour of pedestrians and cyclists, as a result of the consultation process with local residents.

Residents are now very fond of the quiet charm of this square, which is a meeting point and a new reference point in the neighbourhood.
