Metz Gare Centre
The central station area and its surrounding neighbourhoods have undergone and continue to undergo a number of upheavals and transformations (in terms of town planning, new functions, etc.), in addition to changes in uses and expectations (in terms of mobility, economy, impact of digital technology, etc.), as well as a change in the positioning of this district, which now acts as a link between the historic city centre and a second city centre: the Amphithéâtre district.
Our Masterplan seeks first and foremost to develop a vision, a clear and ambitious strategic framework, for this central area of the city of Metz. For several years this area has been the focus of major urban transformation, urban development and public space redevelopment projects carried out by various public and private actors.
If Metz Gare Centre has all the potential to build a new identity and develop a truly vibrant residential district, the challenge of the project is to mobilize, reveal and intensify the different realities that make up the richness and uniqueness of this composite area.
The connection and the presence of the station as the most complete transport hub in the city, and of the residential areas in which it is located, are not intended to assimilate them to a single reality, but rather to create an enriching confrontation between resident and passenger, every day and exceptional, small and large, quiet and intense.
