La Guinguette
La Guinguette restaurant-bar is in the historic centre of Toulouse, on the Garonne River, at the end of rue du Pont de Tounis. The project has brought new life both to the riverfront and to the neighbourhood close to the restaurant.
When the water level is high, the restaurant is dismantled. Only a few elements such as the kitchen and the toilets are fixed and are located under the historic stairs and wall.
The restaurant also has a terrace on the river land where the iroko flooring allows to run the wiring to the floating terrace. At night the space hosts concerts and live music.
The floating terrace was designed as a modular system allowing for easy assembly, disassembly, and installation. The space is made up of two wooden platforms placed to maximize the perimeter in contact with the water.
Each platform has 5 steel porticos that frame the space and define the modulation of the parasols, the rhythm of the light garlands and the layout of the coloured furniture.
