Istituto Arcivescovile per Sordi APSP
The project involves of the development of a residence for retired priests and additional facilities on a large semi-developed site along via Piave.
It forms a link between the traditional mixed closed blocks to the south and the 19th century residential urban villas to the north up to the Torrente Fersini. The plan aims to unite these two qualities through an openwork superblock. The building block has been developed as a strongly cohesive ensemble of buildings that are related in colour and material.
The main volume consists of four floors, the top of which has been slightly set back to give more light to the houses on the opposite side and to visually complete the building. The ground floor houses the care homes and the main entrance, located in the centre, to the senior housing on the upper floors. A double-height communal space was designed in the corner. Each floor has an inner corridor with a window at both ends to allow daylight to enter. There are one-room apartments on either side of the corridor. The large windows allow for maximum natural light and for residents to make the most of the beautiful views.
The building creates two gardens within the block. The planting was carefully selected for its scent and colour in order to offer the residents a pleasant living environment.
