A Coruña’s Harbour Masterplan
The reconversion of large industrial areas in the old port of A Coruña is an opportunity to propose new uses for these spaces in contact with water and to integrate core activities that were once relegated to the periphery due to the need for larger areas and easier access. Large facilities, public spaces and residential areas that can now be in the centre of the city.
This extensive renovation is also an opportunity for the restructuring of existing neighbourhoods, facilitating their access and connection to the new waterfront through a number of green axes. Likewise, it will improve the urban structure by creating pathways along the coast, thus promoting the development of water-related itineraries and viewpoints.
This transformation will also involve the integration of a large part of the Port of the Bay which allow to continue/carry out many ongoing activities such as fishing or the passenger transport, while (at the same time) integrating new initiatives that may come up during the process.
